At Bodney Lodge you can stay in the heart of the unspoilt countryside of Norfolk’s Brecklands, in a beautifully restored nineteenth century barn and adjoining stable block. From the four-poster bed to the full-size snooker table, the facilities throughout are superb and truly luxurious.
Drive down the tree-lined driveway through the picturesque and peaceful Bodney Hall estate and you’ll arrive at a very special holiday hideaway. Lovingly refurbished to the highest possible standard, without compromising on the character or original features, Bodney Lodge showcases top class amenities, stylish country interiors with the use of chic fabrics and feature wallpapers, supremely comfortable beds with bespoke headboards and the ultimate bathing experience in a gloriously opulent free-standing William & Holland copper bath. Add heat source underfloor heating throughout, and you can guarantee you will enjoy a warm, relaxing stay.
The heart of Bodney Lodge is the spectacular oak beamed vaulted open-plan living area in the main barn - a fabulous light and airy space, ideal for family and friends to congregate. A cosily inviting seating area framed by well-stocked library shelving, cushioned window seats and a large wood-burning stove built into the period stone chimney simply adds to the welcoming ambience, especially when the days are chilly and nights drawing in. Between the seating area and the well-equipped fitted kitchen is a rustic, teak dining table sitting below a striking antler chandelier - enjoy dining in, in very grand style! Situated away from the main living area in the entrance hallway is a very useful spacious boot room (handy for the dog to dry and snooze) and a separate cloakroom - worth a visit for the wallpaper alone! The barn, together with the stable block, comfortably accommodates up to ten people in five en-suite bedrooms - two super-king zip and link bedrooms in the main barn, and the deluxe king-size master suite and two double bedrooms housed in the stable block. There is an alternative twin bed option available on the mezzanine level above the kitchen but, due to the steep and narrow spiral staircase, this area is not suitable for young children or anyone with mobility issues.
Large landscaped gardens to the front and rear of Bodney Lodge enjoy distant views across beautiful countryside topped by Norfolk's wonderful wide open skies. On a clear dark night, take a seat and see if you can name the stars. Guests are welcome to take a stroll through the parkland of Bodney Hall down to the River Wissey, a pretty chalk stream where it's possible to take a picnic or arrange fly fishing with the owner, if you wish. And, if you’d really like to de-stress while you’re here, you can treat yourself and book private catering and massages too.
Additional Information: Two well-behaved dogs welcome, for a small additional charge. Travel cot available on request. Please note: the property features low beams, uneven steps and an open garden pond.
